Cataract, Cornea Transplant and LASIK Surgeon
Dr. Shawn M. Iverson, D.O., Cataract, Cornea Transplant and LASIK Surgeon is a South Florida native with extensive training in ophthalmic surgery. He specializes in cornea transplants (DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, PKP), complex cataract surgery, and LASIK. Dr. Iverson also treats medical and surgical glaucoma, performs pterygium surgery, and treats infectious diseases of the anterior segment, as well as sees patients for routine and emergency eye exams.
Dr. Iverson attended Florida Atlantic University where he graduated with honors with his Bachelors of Science. Following university, he attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated amongst the top of his class. To further his education, Dr. Iverson dedicated 3 years to researching glaucoma at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. His Internal Medicine Internship was conducted at Florida Atlantic University and he completed Ophthalmology Residency at the University of South Carolina, where he was selected as the Chief Resident.
Dr. Iverson then completed a Fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at Price Vision Group in Indianapolis, where he trained under Dr. Francis Price, M.D., a pioneer of the partial thickness corneal transplant known as Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK). And during his fellowship he also gained extensive experience in complex cataract surgery and scleral fixated intraocular lenses.
Dr. Iverson has been actively involved in eye research for many years and enjoys presenting at and attending conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest trends in ophthalmology and has more than 15 papers published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research at conferences across the country.
